We all know the world of financial investing can be extremely lucrative. Forbes’ 2015 annual World Billionaires List sheds light on some of the richest billionaire investors and how they amassed their enormous wealth. Below is a rundown of the top-10 investors who made the list.

10. Philip Anschutz – Net Worth: $11.8 billion

Philip Anschutz built fortunes in the energy, transportation and entertainment sectors. He began his investing and business career in the early 1960s by buying out his father’s drilling company. The 75-year old isn’t your typical investing tycoon, preferring to stay out of the limelight.

9. Stephen Schwarzman – Net worth: $12 billion

As Chairman and CEO of Blackstone Group, the multinational private equity and investment firm, Stephen Schwarzman is described by Forbes as the “undisputed king of private equity.” He cofounded Blackstone in 1985 with just under $400,000 on the balance sheet. Today, his company manages $290 billion in assets, reaping annual revenues of more than $7.5 billion in 2014.

8. Abigail Johnson – Net worth: $13.4 billion

As President-CEO of Fidelity Investments and the only woman to crack the top-10, Abigail Johnson has made billions in the money management sector. She became head of Fidelity Investments in 2014, replacing her father Edward Johnson III. According to Forbes, she owns an estimated 24% stake in Fidelity Investments.

7. James Simons – Net worth: $14 billion

James Simons is the Founder of Renaissance Technologies, a $26 billion hedge fund firm. The “Quant King” retired from the company in 2010, but continues to reap untold amounts from his company’s secretive trading strategy known simply as “Medallion.”

6. Ronald Perelman – Net worth: $14.5 billion

Described by Forbes as a “consummate dealmaker,” Ronald Perelman amassed his wealth through leveraged buyouts. A longtime shareholder of Revlon, Perelman built his enormous wealth on a diverse array of holdings, from casinos to cosmetics.

5. Ray Dalio – Net worth: $15.4 billion

Ray Dalio is the founder and co-chief investment officer of Bridgewater Associates, the world’s biggest hedge fund. The hedge fund manages $160 billion worth of assets, with around $80 billion concentrated in the All Weather Fund, which garnered returns of 8.6% in 2014.

4. Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal alsaud – Net worth: $22.6 billion

The high-profile Saudi Prince owns enormous stakes in public and private companies throughout the world, including Twitter, Citigroup and Four Seasons Hotels. He owns a 5% stake in Kingdom Holding Co., which is listed on the Saudi Arabian Stock Exchange.

3. Carl Icahn – Net worth: $23.5 billion

Carl Icahn is beloved by Wall Street for his brand of activist investing. At 79, Icahn remains heavily active in the financial markets. His publicly-traded investment firm Icahn Enterprises had a rough year in 2014, but rebounded sharply in the first half of 2015.

As one of the greatest investors of all time, George Soros made enormous wealth in hedge funds and the foreign exchange market. He is known as “The Man Who Broke the Bank of England” after betting against the British pound in 1992, a move that made him $1 billion.

Widely regarded as the greatest value investor of all time, Warren Buffet tops the list of world’s wealthiest investors. As CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, the most expensive publicly listed US stock, Buffet has built an empire investing in railroads, insurance and energy. With a net worth of more than $70 billion, he is the world’s third richest man.
