The first global ‘Luxury Law’ comparative publication, edited by Fabrizio Jacobacci, will help brand managers and legal practitioners protect their brands across borders.

Leading luxury lawyer Fabrizio Jacobacci has produced the first ‘Luxury Law’ jurisdictional comparative book to help luxury companies protect their brands across the world. ‘Luxury Law’ was launched at the Luxury Law Summit and provides a guide to legal issues across borders with contributions from a range of countries including China and Japan. Topics covered include the protection of intellectual property from copyright to design, product placement and the protection of corporate image and reputation.

Hermès International

Hermès International general counsel Annick de Chaunac said the book would help luxury brand managers and legal practitioners ‘adopt a strategy to deal with the multiple volatile facets of the e-commerce market and social media, and will represent the reference book for all those who are in need of a quick overview of the law in the main countries.’ She says that over the past two decades, the internet in particular has presented new challenges to the luxury industry and, whilst presenting opportunities, it is ‘also an endless source of concern for maintaining brand image in the face of unsupervised use on a scale unimaginable twenty years ago.’
