Silver prices fell sharply by Rs 515 to Rs 37,415 per kg in futures trade today due to profit-booking by speculators amid a weak trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March traded lower by Rs 515, or 1.36 per cent, to Rs 37,415 per kg in a business turnover of 1,452 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in May declined by Rs 469, or 1.22 per cent, to Rs 38,096 per kg in a business volume of 13 lots.

In the international market, silver prices fell by 0.4 per cent lower at USD 16.79 an ounce in Singapore.

Market analysts said apart from the profit-booking by participants, a weak trend in global markets led to the fall in silver prices at futures trade here.
