Guernsey Named Best International Finance Center
Guernsey has been named Best International Finance Center at the WealthBriefing European Awards 2015.
The announcement was made last week during a ceremony at the Guildhall in the City of London. It was the third annual European awards ceremony hosted by the private wealth management trade publication WealthBriefing.
The judges said they ultimately settled on Guernsey as the winner partly due to it taking a leadership role on the adoption of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Common Reporting Standard. In addition, the panel supported Guernsey’s strategy of expanding its global presence, as the first IFC to open an office in Shanghai. Guernsey is currently seeking to expand its presence in South America and South Africa.
Dominic Wheatley, the Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance, said: “I am delighted that Guernsey has won this award. It is extremely satisfying to see that the judges recognized the way in which we are positioning ourselves within the mainstream of international finance through our commitment to global standards and international cooperation and compliance.”
