Romania and Bulgaria among EU states to record industrial production growth in June
The industrial production in the European Union (EU 28) fell by 0.2 percent in June compared to May and went down 0.4 percent in the Euro Area, while Romania ranked 7th in the European bloc by the increased industrial production, shows data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union on Wednesday.
The highest growths of the industrial production in June were posted by Denmark (4.2pct), the Netherlands (3.9pct), Slovakia (1.4pct), Finland (1.2pct), the Czech Republic (1pct), Lithuania (0.7pct), Bulgaria, Spain, Poland and Romania (0.6pct each).
The steepest fall was recorded by Croatia (minus 2.9pct), Portugal (minus 2.1pct) and Ireland (minus 2pct), according to Eurostat.
The diminished industrial production in the EU was due to the production of capital goods falling by 1.2 percent, consumer durables by 0.4 percent and the intermediate goods by 0.1 percent, it added.
In June compared to June 2014 the industrial production increased by 0.7 percent in EU 28 and by 1.2 percent in the Euro Area.
The highest rises in the industrial production were reported in Ireland (27.6pct), Denmark (7.6pct) and Lithuania (6.9pct), while the most significant decline was seen in Greece (minus 4.6pct), Estonia (minus 3.4pct) and the Netherlands (minus 2.4pct).
Romania recorded 3 percent increase in industrial production in June as compared to the same month a year ago.
