Top ten accountancy firm has recruited a former EY partner
Top Ten accountancy firm Smith & Williamson has recruited a former EY partner to join its tax ranks.
John Cooney re-joins the firm as partner after ten years in a similar post at EY ,where he specialised in advising entrepreneurs, entertainers, media clients, and sports people in all aspects of their private tax and business affairs.
During his time at EY, Cooney worked with fellow partner David Kilshaw, who was poached by the Big Four firm from KPMG, where he previously served as tax partner for 17 years at the firm.
Cooney commented: “I am thrilled to re-join the talented group of individuals at Smith & Williamson, where the focus on servicing the entirety of an entrepreneurial clients’ needs is the cornerstone of the culture. The breadth of tax knowledge in the team is second to none and the firm’s ability to bring investment propositions is unique in the market.
