DBS Bank enables SMEs to apply for an account via video conferencing

DBS Bank in Hong Kong is saving small businesses the hassle of going to a bank branch to open a new account by introducing a video conferencing service for due diligence checks.

The bank’s “Meet Online” Business Account Opening Service enables SME customers to chat with the bank’s relationship manager via FaceTime or WebEx video communication tools.

Once the application has been accepted a courier service is arranged to collect related documents from the customer’s registered business address.

In February last year, the bank introduced an online account opening service to enable SMEs to apply via the internet for an account in just 15 minutes.

Alex Cheung, MD and head of institutional banking, says: “Meet Online greatly enhances the account opening experience for SME customers as everything can be done with the ease and convenience of a mobile or tablet device anywhere and anytime, thus allowing customers to have more time to grow their business and to live more, bank less.”
