Global law firm Linklaters announces the election of new Senior Partner

Global law firm Linklaters announces the election of Charlie Jacobs as the firm’s new Senior Partner. Elected on a five-year term the appointment will be effective from 1 October 2016, once current Senior Partner Robert Elliott’s term ends.

Charlie Jacobs joined Linklaters 26 years ago and has been with the firm throughout his career. He has worked on some of the largest M&A deals in the market, most recently for SAB Miller on its proposed acquisition by ABI InBev and Glencore on its acquisition of Xstrata. He has also recently acted on the listings of Metro Bank, Steinhoff and CMC Markets. Charlie is  also a non-executive director of Fresnillo and Investec.

Commenting on the election, current Senior Partner Robert Elliott said:

“It has been a great privilege to serve as the Senior Partner of one of the truly outstanding firms in the international legal services market. Charlie’s standing with clients and motivational and energetic leadership style mean he has all the attributes to lead our firm.”

Commenting on his election, Charlie Jacobs, new Senior Partner elect, said:
