PwC is putting its weight behind technology startups, partnering with the UK’s biggest incubator.

The professional services giant will support Scotland’s Codebase, which is home to more than 80 startups in Edinburgh and will soon launch a second location in Stirling.

It will offer business support to the new firms via its My Financepartner, its small and medium business service, including cloud services for accounting, payroll and taxes.

“Embracing technological change and cultivating a world leading digital sector is critical to job creation and the ongoing strength of business in the UK, including professional services,” said PwC chairman and senior partner Kevin Ellis.

“The venture between PwC and Codebase is part of our commitment to encourage innovation and support businesses to grow. The exchange of skills and ideas in hubs across the country should help rebalance growth across the country.”

Codebase was set up in 2014, providing offices, co-working space, mentoring and connections with investors such as DFJ Esprit, Notions Capital, Seedcamp and Scottish Equity Partners, a backer of freshly sold unicorn startup Skyscanner.
