CME Group Announces Record Eurodollar Options Volume
CME Group, the world’s leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, announced it reached a trading volume record for Eurodollar options yesterday, January 19, of 4,279,584 contracts, surpassing the previous record of 3,493,675 set on June 24, 2013. Open interest in Eurodollar options also increased by 1.6 million to 30.76 million, up from 26.05 million at 2015 year end.
“As we continue to see global economic uncertainty, clients are utilizing CME Group’s Eurodollar options because of the deep and consistent liquidity,” said Agha Mirza, CME Group Global Head of Interest Rate Products. “The contracts offer a diversity of participants, flexibility in strikes and expirations, and highly useful option tools and platforms for clients to manage their risk.”
CME Eurodollar options contracts are listed by and subject to the rules of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
