Ukraine plans to introduce “war tax”
According to Ukraine’s Deputy Finance Minister, Volodymyr Matviychuk, the Ministry is considering the introduction of a special “war tax” of 1.5 percent on salaries, coming into effect before the end of the year.
Following a media briefing, Matviychuk cited that the proposal was introduced to the Ministry by a group of People’s Deputies, and that the Ministry agreed it could be possible.
The Minister explained that such a tax would raise USD2.9bn for Ukraine’s military and would operate alongside the individual income tax regime.
