ACCA and Colombian Acountancy Body sign MOU
The growth and development of the accountancy profession in Colombia has been bolstered by a Memorandum of Understanding being signed between INCP (Instituto Nacional de Contadores Públicos de Colombia), Colombia’s national accountancy body, and ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
The MOU will help more people into the accountancy profession, through ACCA’s support of implementing international financial reporting standards in Colombia, as well as training and certification in this important discipline and international audit through ACCA’s online certificates and exams.
Toby Moseley, ACCA’s portfolio head of Latin America and Turkey, signed the MOU with Hugo Ospina, president of INCP.
Toby Moseley said: ‘This prestigious partnership will help to accumulate more accountants in Colombia where there is a high demand for finance professionals.
‘Essentially, accountants are vital to deliver financial trust and public value – acting in the public interest, promoting ethical business and supporting economic growth. Their understanding of financial reporting standards used around the world ensures that the profession is consistent in their approach to their work, and so that they have transferable skills to be used wherever they may go in their careers.
‘This is all a part of ACCA’s ethos of being accessible to everyone who has the ability and skills to be a complete finance professional.’
The collaboration also means that INCP members will be given access to ACCA’s reports and articles, to further enhance their knowledge and skills.
