“Greece is unable to decide on its own what path to follow”, says the German Minister of Finance

German parliament voted in favor of the four month extension of Greek aid, as expected.

542 MPs out of the total 631 voted  ”yes” to extend the Greek program, 32 against, while there were 13 abstentions.

Prior to voting in German parliament, German Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schauble expressed  his view that despite latest talks the decision to ratify the agreement of the Eurogroup on Greece and the four month extension, remains difficult.

“Our confidence has been shaken”, stated in his speech Wolfgang Schauble.

“Vote, not to give more money, but more time” was the message of the German Minister of Finance in Parliament , wanting to convey the essence of today’s vote, which began shortly after 10:30 am Friday.

Among others Wolfgang Schauble stated that “Greece is unable to decide on its own what path to follow” and added that ”Germany must hold Europe united. Solidarity in Europe does not mean that State Member can be blackmailed”.
