VAT contributions from EU countries – UK contributes the second highest

Value Added Tax (VAT) is a major source of funds for EU Budget.

Uk group Business for Britain has released a research Business for Britain Research showing that UK is the second-highest contributor to the EU budget regarding VAT contribution with Total VAT paid into EU Budget of Euro 18.936.000.000 for the years 2007 – 2013.

The highest contributor is France with Euro 19.659.000.000 where the EU average is Euro 3.973.177.778.

According to European Commission figures, the total VAT collected from EU countries for the period 2007 – 2013 is Euro 107.275.800.000.

The analysis from Business for Britain indicates that UK’s contribution per capita is higher than many other member states, including Germany that is the largest member by population and size of economy.
