UHY’s London office has appointed Simon Barker, formerly a Partner at KPMG, as a Partner in its Business Advisory Services team.

Simon has over 20 years’ experience providing outsourcing, financial reporting and audit services and advice to companies, primarily in the food and drink, retail and consumer brands, airline, pharmaceutical and business services sectors.

As well as working with major blue chip corporate clients and mid-sized listed groups including Diageo, Siemens, World Duty Free and Uniq Foods in the course of his career, Simon is also experienced in advising entrepreneurial start-ups and SMEs on a range of issues – from accounting systems and outsourcing to fundraising, commercial agreements and sale and purchase transactions.

One such client is Ella’s Kitchen, the baby food brand started in 2006, which now has global sales of over £50million.

Since leaving KPMG, Simon has undertaken a number of consultancy assignments providing Finance Director-level input and commercial and operational support to businesses and charities such as Mind and Startup Direct, as well as taking up a key interim practice development position with accountancy firm Sayers Butterworth LLP.

He has a developing expertise in the growing number of alternative finance sources such as crowdfunding and peer to peer lending.

UHY’s London office Business Advisory Services team assists companies with a whole range of business management, governance and administration tasks. Its independent external perspective helps firms of all sizes focus on running their business effectively. Services include accounting outsourcing, company secretarial, forensic accounting, employee benefits, financial reporting, business review, IT solutions, interim management and payroll and bookkeeping.
