Baker Tilly

The former Russian member of Grant Thornton has joined Baker Tilly International and is in an advanced stage of merger discussions with Baker Tilly Russaudit. The firms are now trading as Baker Tilly Russia. A Co-ordination Committee, represented by partners from both firms, is confident in reaching an agreement in the near future.

The combined firm is anticipating RUB1bn turnover (an equivalent of US$16m at current exchange rate), with 18 partners and over 500 employees operating out of Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and Tver.

Commenting on the merger talks, Baker Tilly International’s CEO and president, Geoff Barnes said: “This is another example of a bold move by one of our member firms and demonstrates that our members are keen to broaden their footprint and to expand their capabilities in order to further enhance their services”.

Evgeny Samoylov, partner Baker Tilly Russia: “We gladly welcome this opportunity to merge with such a high quality organisation. This combination will provide additional leverage by creating a firm that, while being 100% local, will have all necessary skills and experience to provide services of the highest international quality standards to any company working in Russia as well as abroad”.

Alexander Malkov, partner Baker Tilly Russia: “The partners of Baker Tilly Russaudit shared our vision for developing professional services and setting up a unified partnership in Russia. We are confident that our decision to join forces will expedite the implementation of our strategic plans and expand our client base, as well as the range and geography of our services. This initiative will create a solid foundation and generate opportunities for the further development of our unified partnership”.
