The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the global body for professional accountants, has issued an announcement to inform about its revised structure.

The global market portfolio for ACCA is being reorganised so the professional body for accountants will continue to develop the accountancy profession the world needs.

The revised structure sees ACCA moving from five to six key portfolios:

  • A new portfolio of Greater China, directed by Ada Leung, bringing together ACCA’s Hong Kong and ACCA China teams.
  • The creation of a new ASEAN and ANZ portfolio, directed by Leong Soo Yee, which reflects more closely the markets in the ASEAN economic community.
  • MENASA becomes Middle East and South Asia – MESA, directed by Stuart Dunlop.
  • Sub Saharan Africa becomes Africa, directed by Jamil Ampomah, and covering all of Africa apart from Egypt which remains with MESA.
  • Emerging Markets, directed by Lucia Real Martin, including a varied portfolio of countries where demand for the profession is growing such as Afghanistan and Turkey.
  • Europe and America, directed by Julie Hotchkiss, including key markets such as the UK and USA.

Steve Heathcote, executive director – markets, at ACCA says: ‘This year ACCA is celebrating reaching a landmark of 200,000 members – but we’re not standing still. Our strategic ambition is to be #1 in developing the accountancy profession the world needs: our new market portfolio structure recognises that ambition and will enable ACCA to create an even sharper focus across our global footprint to ensure we continue to be where we’re most needed, creating opportunity, unlocking potential and delivering value.

‘Our new structure, with a talented team of directors leading their dedicated teams, means we are set-up to meet demand and work with our many partners around the world to build capacity for the profession for the benefit of our members and students.’
