Foreign investors’ figures favourable for Cyprus
Foreign investors showed great interest in Cyprus in 2013 due to the Government’s scheme offering citizenship and permanent residence on the island, Minister of Interior, Socrates Hasikos has revealed.
According to the Cyprus News Agency, Hasikos said that the €500 million cash flow secured was testament to the scheme’s success, and that the Government would like to ensure its continuation, with prospects for 2014 already appearing favourable.
However, the Minister noted however that some changes have been made, making the acquisition of a Cypriot passport more difficult. “This is also a European passport,” Hasikos explained in excusing the changes.
Applications are reviewed on a case by case basis, to see whether certain criteria are met, before proceeding with issuing a passport, the Minister stated.
