SRA shuts down Manchester firm

The Solicitors Regulation Authority has shut down the Manchester firm Robert Meaton & Co due to suspected dishonesty by one of the partners.

According to the firm’s website release the regulator intervened the practice of Andrew John Davies and Stephen Astin on 8 August.

SRA argues that both men had failed to comply with the professional practice rules, thus, an intervention was inevitable from their part.

The practising certificates of both Davies and Astin have been automatically suspended.

As a result of the intervention, the firm has stopped any operations and SRA has taken possession of all documents, papers and money held by the firm.

SRA could not provide further details on the issue and none from the firm could be contacted for comment.
