Multiple companies to launch on Qatar Exchange
Multiple companies are preparing to launch initial public offers on the Qatar Exchange in the coming months, the CEO of the bourse has reported.
Rashid bin Ali Al Mansoori told the exchange was working with the companies to complete the compliance procedures, with both state entities and private businesses expressing interests in listing.
“Currently, the total number of companies listed on Qatar Exchange is just 43. It’s a very small number in terms of share trading,” Al Mansoori was quoted as saying by Arabic daily Al Sharq.
He added the exchange was particularly focusing on family-owned businesses, which contribute nearly 80 percent of the national economy, and would soon host an awareness conference to encourage more to go public.
There have been several new listings on Gulf exchanges in the past year, ending a drought following the global financial crisis.
