Baker & McKenzie strengthens its China funds and private equity capabilities through the Joint Operation it formed with FenXun Partners

The Joint Operation provides clients of both firms with an unprecedented platform to serve their international and PRC legal needs

Baker & McKenzie and FenXun Partners recently announced that they have become the first international and PRC law firms to enter into a Joint Operation in the China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone. Through the Joint Operation, clients of both firms are able to enjoy integrated advice on international and PRC laws in a number of strategic areas, including private equity and investment funds.

Sue Liu, an experienced funds formation lawyer at FenXun Partners, will work closely with Baker & McKenzie’s Asia Pacific Private Funds head, Jason Ng, to develop the integrated private equity and investment funds offering.  Ms Liu’s practice focuses primarily on the asset management industry. She has extensive experience advising on the establishment and operation of private investment funds, mergers, acquisitions, equity offerings, public listings, and other transactions involving investment management firms. Ms Liu holds an LLB degree from Peking University and a JD from Columbia University Law.

Sue Liu said, “The Baker & McKenzie FenXun (FTZ) Joint Operation allows our firms to respond to our clients’ needs for Chinese and international law advice through one entity. This will enable us to provide more aligned advice to our Chinese and international clients on their fund management, acquisitions and capital markets transactions.”
