What Happened to eBay’s Enterprise Business?
eBay cared an awful lot about large brands and retailers throughout former CEO John Donahoe’s reign, but with the breakup of the company in July, the eBay Enterprise unit was sold off. So where is it now?
What’s left of the unit, which is still called eBay Enterprise, will be rebranded in the second quarter, the president of the new company told AdExchanger. The unit had actually been split into four, as we described in November.
Tobias Hartmann, who joined eBay Enterprise in 2011 as Vice President Omnichannel Operations & International, said rather than trying to market itself as one solution that can solve all retailers’ needs, it’s going to focus on something it calls “post-click commerce.” That includes things like payments, inventory fulfillment and support for in-store pickup services.
The new strategy was prompted in part by the loss of key client Toys R Us, which took its website operations in-house in July.
The new owner, Sterling Partners, merged eBay Enterprise with a tech company called Innotrac – the combined company has 27 distribution centers globally, five call centers and 7,000 employees.
