Kimberly N. Ellison-Taylor, CPA, CGMA, has been named chairman of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association) – a global accounting organization formed in 2017 by members of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).

Ellison-Taylor brings extensive experience to the role, which she will hold for a one-year term. She currently works as global accounting strategy director for Oracle America and also serves as chairman of the AICPA. In her new position, she will work closely with David Stanford, FCMA, CGMA, the newly-elected president of CIMA who has been named vice chairman of the Association.

On her appointment, Ellison-Taylor commented: “I am honored to serve our profession at such a pivotal time. Technological innovation is disrupting our society, spurring demand for the higher value strategic guidance that CGMAs and CPAs offer to clients and businesses everywhere. In these extraordinary times, the Association has united and strengthened our profession, creating boundless possibilities for the accountants of today and tomorrow.”

Representing 650,000 CGMAs, CPAs and students from 179 countries, the Association exists to drive a dynamic accounting profession ready to meet the demands of an evolving world. It works to develop the tools, resources and insights its members need to help clients and businesses stay ahead in a volatile and rapidly changing business environment.

The Association is governed by a board made up of CPAs and CGMAs responsible for overseeing strategies that advance the organization’s mission. The chairmanship rotates between the chairman of the AICPA and the president of CIMA. Ellison-Taylor succeeds Andrew Miskin, FCMA, CGMA, who is the immediate-past president of CIMA.

Ellison-Taylor has a long legacy of service to the profession. She has served on the AICPA board for five years, and was a member of the AICPA Business and Industry Executive Committee and the AICPA Finance and Audit Committees, among other activities. She is also a past chair of the Maryland Association of CPAs, and has been recognized by Accounting Today as one of the Top 100 most influential people in the profession and by CPA Practice Advisor as one of the most powerful women in accounting.

Stanford also brings extensive experience to his role as vice chair of the Association. His 50-year career includes a number of senior finance roles in industries like electronics and retail, as well as several entrepreneurial ventures. A member of CIMA’s governing Council since 1996, Stanford has held numerous volunteer leadership positions. He is the immediate past deputy president.
