CySec informs in relation to Starfish Markets (CY)

The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySec) has issued an announcement to inform investors regarding the company ‘Starfish Markets (CY).

According CySec’s announcement, the company ‘Starfish Markets (CY) Ltd’ (‘the Company’) has obtained a license by the CySEC to operate as an investment firm, under the relevant Law 144(I)/2007, which has not been activated as stated in CySEC’s web site.

CySEC wishes to stress that in accordance with its applicable procedures, in order for the Company’s license to be activated, the Company must comply with the conditions set by CySEC. Therefore and before its activation:

i. The Company cannot provide any investment services to clients and/or investors.

ii. The Company cannot obtain/receive clients’ money and/or financial instruments.

Information/complaints have been received alleging that the Company has already begun operating, and CySEC is investigating the facts before it. Investors will be informed accordingly, on CySEC’s findings upon conclusion.

The CySEC urges investors, before conducting business with Investment Institutions, to consult its Web Site (http://www.cysec.gov.cy) to confirm the entities that are authorised to provide investment services in the Republic and that the license of such entities is activated.
